Dr. Cody C. Phen
DMD, MS, Orthodontist
Dr. Cody Phen is a surgical orthodontist with an extraordinary academic journey and a deep commitment to making orthodontic care accessible to everyone. Raised in Durham, NC, Dr. Phen earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill, followed by a Master of Science in Physiology with a Certificate in Molecular Biotechnology from NC State University. He went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, graduating with an AEGD with Distinction, and completed his Orthodontics Residency at Southern Illinois University. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the NC Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Charles Tweed Foundation.
Dr. Phen is an American Association of Orthodontists Resident Champion, a two-time Dean's Scholar of Excellence, a Pierre Fauchard Academy Senior Certificate of Merit recipient, and a J. Bradley Wilson Schweitzer Fellow. He has published peer-reviewed research on radiology and artificial intelligence, completed the prestigious Tweed Study Course in wire bending and biomechanics, and participated in the AAO Wharton program on mastering the business of orthodontics. His clinical competencies span the full spectrum of modern orthodontic care.
Remarkably, Dr. Phen is also multilingual, speaking English, Mandarin, Hindi, and conversational Spanish, allowing him to connect with an even broader range of patients and families. At the heart of everything Dr. Phen does is a belief that everyone deserves a happy and healthy smile. His passion for serving populations that are often underserved or financially insecure drives his approach to care, and it's a mission he brings to every patient he sees. Outside of the office, he loves reading, photography, working out, volunteering, and traveling.

Dr. Matthew Morrone
DMD, MS, Orthodontist
Dr. Matthew Morrone – call him Dr. Matt – was born in West Virginia, but spent most of his childhood in Paris, Texas. He returned to WV to complete his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University, where he also played baseball. Never one to underachieve, he also graduated Magna Cum Laude.
He ventured a little bit south to go to dental school at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. He knew he wanted to become an orthodontist, so he quickly started his orthodontics residency training at Seton Hill University, receiving his certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Master of Science in Biology. After completing his residency, he successfully became board certified and is proud to be a diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Matt’s grandfather was a dentist and so he developed an interest in dentistry from a very young age. While in orthodontic treatment as a teenager, he was fascinated by the transformation in his own smile. This sense of curiosity and excitement never waned, he still loves to expand his knowledge in newer orthodontic technologies and techniques.
